Welcome to my new health, nutrition and wellness journal!
My name is Deborah Crespo and I am a Registered Dietitian, Nutrition and Wellness Coach, and author of the recently released book
Health & Wellness Style: The Smart Woman's Guide to Balance, Wellness and the Enjoyment of Food.
My interest in nutrition began over a decade ago, when after years of staying relatively fit, and never really having to worry about the number on the scale, I suddenly found myself with a tightening waist band. The weight gain and body size changes were due to no longer being 20-something, long hours, lack of sleep, convenience meals on the run, and stress eating or skipping meals to keep up with the pace. Finally, my body said, "Enough!" To make a long story short, I discovered natural approaches to wellness and nutrition that allowed me to get back on track, as well as led me to change careers, find my passion in assisting others, and build a company.
You may have also noticed that I am a Nutrition and Wellness Coach and may be curious as to what that means. As a Dietitian, I can provide you facts about eating healthy which are useful, but as The Coach, we work together to discover how to apply the information to your real life. It's about what inspires you. What it looks like, feels like, and tastes like to you to feel vibrant and alive. What you really want for yourself, and what you see as the vision for your full, abundant healthy life. In my opinion, understanding this is the key to making changes that have sticking power.
My book,
Health & Wellness Style is a reflection of this philosophy. I work with clients through my company
P.H.A.B. Nutrition, Inc. using one-on-one phone consultations or in person sessions at
Savannah Integrative Medicine. We use The Book as your eight week guide on the path to creating wellness and weight management. If you're a man - don't worry - you're not excluded from the process. We simply use different resources other than the book to achieve the same goal.
Food brings us life, and life is often reflected in our connections to food. Through this journal, I hope we can explore how food isn't an enemy to be fought or feared, but instead can nurture, empower and energize us to lead our best lives. I look forward to hearing your thoughts, challenges and successes, as well as sharing my adventures with interesting people and places in promoting the book!
Yours in health and wellness,
Deborah
